Sir William Roberts, the founder of the company, came to the Indian subcontinent in 1906 and joined Indian Agriculture Service. He became the first Principal of Agriculture College Lyallpur, in Punjab.
Sir William Roberts established BCGA (British Cotton Growing Association) in 1921 to undertake Research and Development on vast tracts of land near Khanewal for the introduction of American upland type cotton seed in the subcontinent. He was able to successfully introduce the first staple cotton variety KT25.
Sir William Roberts established Roberts Cotton Associates Limited in 1949 that prospered to own and manage several cotton ginning factories in Punjab.
Dr. Thomas Jones Roberts took over as the Managing Director on 1st August, 1966. He had a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, England and was decorated by the President of Pakistan with Sitara – e – Imtiaz medal for his outstanding services in the field of wildlife conservation.
In 1995 RCA Ltd diversified into planting seed business. The company procures, processes and markets planting seeds of Wheat, Cotton, Paddy, Vegetables and Fodder under the brand name RCA SEED.
In 1998 RCA Ltd diversified into rice business for exports.
Dr. Qaiser Rashid became the Managing Director of Roberts Cotton Associates Limited in 2013. He is a medical doctor and has an MBA from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He served at Nestle Pakistan from 1989 to 1993 and joined RCA Ltd in 1994.
In 2015 RCA Ltd. diversified into software and technology sector as a full service Information Technology company.
